Fall Intake in Canada 2024
Fall intake, commonly known as September intake, is the primary intake at Canadian universities. It is the major intake of the Canadian academic year as it offers innumerable academic programs and scholarships, and incorporates numerous top universities in Canada.
Both “autumn” and “fall” refer to the season between summer and winter, and both terms are correct and widely used. However, “autumn” is more commonly used in British English, while “fall” is more commonly used in American English.
The term “autumn” originated from the Old French word “autompne” which was derived from the Latin word “autumnus”. The word “fall” originated from the Middle English phrase “fall of the leaf”, which referred to the season when leaves fall from trees.
There is no significant cultural or historical reason why British people use the term “autumn” and Americans use the term “fall”. It is simply a matter of linguistic evolution and regional preference.
There are 297 days (including today) until next autumn equinox.
The autumnal equinox typically occurs on September 22 or 23 in the Northern Hemisphere and on March 20 or 21 in the Southern Hemisphere. The autumnal equinox marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall.
