Usually, my bathroom linen closet is untidy. Often it is overflowing with similar toiletries, twisted towels, and forgotten lotions. Are you in this situation? Do you dream of not having to search among a jumble of towels and cosmetics for what you need? Behold, the life-altering bathroom closet organization ideas that you are about to discover.
Which Are the Most Appropriate Baskets for Closet Organization?
Organizing your bathroom closet with baskets is a terrific idea. I love using natural woven baskets because they have a personal touch and everything is neat and tidy. However, if you have items that could leak or get stained, use strong plastic or acrylic baskets. If spills occur, cleanup will be easy. And don’t forget to label these treasures so you know exactly what’s in them.
Bathroom Closet Organization Tips
1. Purge and Clean
Like every other area of decluttering, we begin with a comprehensive cleaning. This requires the greatest effort, but the payoff will be worth it in the end. Go through everything. Get rid of items you neither need or use. Toiletries that are almost out of date? Discard them! Old towels more holes than cloth? See you!
If you have still in good condition belongings, think about giving them to a nearby shelter or charity. After you finish tidying, give the shelves a good polish.
2. Sort Items Into Categories
Have you found out how to use the closet area in your bathroom? The types of things we put in the bathroom may be:
- Hair styling tools and supplies.
- Bath towels.
- First aid/medicine.
- Hand towels and washcloths.
- Toiletries.
- Cleaning supplies.
3. Product Selection
I enjoy sorting stuff into containers individually. Clear plastic bins especially appeal to me since they let me quickly view what’s inside without having to repeatedly dig around.
To fit different sized items, I search for containers in a range. For shampoo bottles, for instance, tall, skinny bins and little, shallow ones for cosmetics and cotton balls. Perfect if they can be stacked to best use vertical space!
4. Placement
After organizing your items into boxes, it’s important to decide where to store them. I prefer to keep frequently used items on the outside of cabinets and at eye level, while rarely used items are kept higher up or in the back. Also, I prefer to keep my boxes symmetrical, such as matching boxes or complementary baskets on either side of a closet.
5. Labeling
Once everything is put away, label your containers, baskets, and drawers. This will allow you to find what you need faster and keep your bathroom closet tidy. Put the labels where you can see them more readily to spare yourself the time of looking for them everywhere.
Bathroom Closet Organization Ideas
Add a Lazy Susan
Our bathroom closets are usually somewhat small. One by one item search and reaching in will surely cause chaos with additional items. Right now, a turntable helps us organize our bathroom closets really neatly. It lets you quickly reach every one of your items without having to search the rear of the shelves.
Use Glass Jars
One of my favorite bathroom closet storage solutions are glass jars. For keeping things in a humid environment like the bathroom, glass is a great protection. They stop moisture from entering the jar, therefore keeping the item unusable. A range of things like cotton balls, cotton swabs, bath salts, and bath bombs can be kept in them.
Toss Unnecessary Packaging
Packaging that isn’t needed takes up room and makes the cabinets look crowded. Therefore, simplify your life by doing away with unnecessary things like boxes, bottles, and wrapping paper. Transfer your shampoos, conditioners, and lotions to smaller, easier to handle containers and just keep what you need.
Add Some Extra Drawer Space
Think about adding a little drawer unit or perhaps a stacking drawer system into your closet. This will create a specific area just for those little items. Like your hair accessories, cosmetics, or additional bathroom extras. Or perhaps simply odd stuff that you can’t quite identify. Everything else will be easier to organize after each of these little items is put away in its own little drawer.
Mix and Match
Put items of varying sizes in a box of the same size, and you’ll end up with a disaster. We can try to keep items of varying sizes using many storage box sizes. For instance, bins for wet towels, clear boxes for toiletries, and even some pretty jars for cotton swabs and other things. To give your closets some uniqueness, we may also add baskets, crates, and varyingly sized and colored containers.
Roll Your Towels
Folding towels has always been something I like doing. However, I always manage to mess up the towels whenever I access the towels beneath. Afterwards, I realized rolling towels is the true victor. When not in use, rolling towels may be a space saver in the bathroom. You may get more use out of less space by rolling your towels instead of folding them. The best part is that it requires less work.
Utilize the Closet Door
A place that is often forgotten is the inside of your bathroom closet door. You may maximize it though with a few little hooks, baskets, or shelves. Store extra toilet paper, hang your preferred towels, or even include some hooks to hang robes or luggage. It’s an ideal way to maximize your capacity for storage without wasting any critical shelf space.
How to Store Uncategorized Items
Do you feel that small, difficult to sort items are everywhere in your bathroom? How are these things handled?
For those difficult to sort yet must be orderly arranged, I have a medium-sized box. Small items such cotton swabs, travel-sized goods, and additional hair ties are also kept on a hanging organizer on the door.
Final Thoughts
Thus, organizing the cabinets in your bathroom isn’t really tough, is it? After you clean, sort, and choose the correct things, it’s time to put everything where it belongs and mark it properly. Let your bathroom cabinets really reflect your own aesthetic and personality.
FAQs about Bathroom Closet Organization Ideas
Take a look at your remaining items. For the most efficient bathroom closet organization, clearly defined categories should be assigned, such as towels, toilet paper, shower products, makeup, etc. Give each category a shelf in the closet, keeping the most frequently used items front and center.
A few white, plastic bins may be all that’s needed to transform your bathroom closet into a clean and useable area. If you want to get a little more creative, you can also incorporate some pretty storage solutions like a rattan basket for rolled towels or a cluster of glass jars to display your Q-tips and cotton balls.

“It’s usually easiest to simply fold towels. Some exceptions: small hand towels and washcloths can be easier to keep neatly stored if they’re in a bin or if your shelves are very deep, you may make better use of the space if you keep towels and linens in a basket or bin.”
