7 Hours – It Is Also
Our Convert Date Units Calculator can quickly give you the answer. To use it, follow these simple steps:
Count up from the starting time by hours. Once you get to the same hour as the end time, either add or subtract the start time’s minutes to equal the end time’s minutes. Take 6:20 PM and 9:00 PM, for example. Count up from the start time (6:20) by hours until you reach the end time (9:00) — 7:20, 8:20, 9:20.
First, identify the starting and an ending time. The goal is to subtract the starting time from the ending time under the correct conditions. If the times are not already in 24-hour time, convert them to 24-hour time. AM hours are the same in both 12-hour and 24-hour time.
To add time, you add the hours together, then you add the minutes together. Because there are only 60 minutes in an hour, you cannot have a time whose minute value is greater than 60.
So here’s a step-by-step run-through of how to count hours, along with an example.
Step 1: Determine start and end time.
Step 2: Convert time to military time.
Step 3: Subtract start time from end time.
Step 4: Subtract unpaid breaks.
Step 5: Convert to decimal format.
Step 6: Add up total hours for pay period.
